Three Ways To Break Through Your Fear and Self-Doubt

The best way to get something done is to begin.

Just recently I read an article in Forbes in which the writer told of an entrepreneur who was selected to deliver a TED talk. Despite knowing what an amazing opportunity it was, she experienced intense fear leading up to the event and even tried to get out of her commitment.

This entrepreneur isn’t alone. At one point or another, we all question whether or not we are doing enough, making enough money, or if we are going to be “successful” enough. I know this firsthand. Getting started with blogging wasn’t easy for me. At all. In fact I wrestled with the idea for about three years. That’s right, 3 years! You can read about it in my last post, How My Blogging Journey Actually Started. My reasons varied and one I didn’t talk about was fear. Here are a few others, all I believe are symptoms of fear and self- doubt:

  • Believing I had to be perfect
  • A desire to be like others
  • Overthinking

How did I breakthrough the fear and self-doubt? How did I stop dreaming and start doing?

  • Made a decision;
  • Set a deadline;
  • Changed the way I spoke and thought about blogging

These strategies to breakthrough fear and self-doubt can be applied to other areas of life. Really anything you feel fear and self-doubt about and it’s causing you to feel stuck. Maybe you want to write a book but fear people will hate it. Or how about this one: Maybe you want to start a business but you’re afraid it won’t work.  The strategies above worked for me and I know they can work for you too.

Let’s keep this conversation going. I’d love to hear from you about your experiences.  Leave your comments below.

Until next time live beautifully!
